Our Columbia, South Carolina location is seeking an experienced legal assistant to support attorneys in its economic development and commercial real estate practices. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, edit, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence.
• Manage client files, conflict checks, calendars, deadlines, and closing binders.
• Assist with attorney time entry, billing, expense reports, and check requests.
• Coordinate document distribution, public notices, and license renewals.
• Communicate with clients and coordinate with attorneys and accounting.

Qualifications

• Previous legal assistant experience; transactional or commercial real estate experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Word skills, including document formatting, redlining, and PDF-to-Word conversion.
• Proficiency in Outlook and Excel; familiarity with legal billing and document management software.
• Excellent organizational, proofreading, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, support multiple attorneys, and handle confidential information with discretion.
