Kidney Stone Prevention

Not all stones are created equal.

What you can expect

What are Kidney Stones?

As our bodies create urine there are minerals and salts that can form stone like structures that can lodge in the kidneys.

different types of Stones

Calcium stones are the most common. There are two types: calcium oxalate stones and calcium phosphate stones.

Uric acid stones: Uric Acid is a waste product from protein metabolism. uric acid crystals do not dissolve well in acidic urine and will form a stone!

Struvite/infection stones: Not as common a stone.  Most often seen in people with chronic urinary tract infections (different reasons for this) or poor bladder emptying.

Cystine stones: cysteine is an amino acid found in many protein foods. Cystinuria ( too much cystine in the urine) is a rare inherited disorder. This type of stone usually starts in childhood.

Small victories lay the foundation for success.

There is  a lot you can do with diet. Trusting the process is knowing that daily habits over time to help  with kidney stones will shift us in the direction we want to go.  There is no such thing as a small success when it comes to changing our daily habits.
